Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices Part 2

This course is designed for those who have a firm background in data networking, have some hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches, and are looking to increase their knowledge of installation, maintaining, and troubleshooting, medium-sized switched and routed networks.

Course Objectives

 

Upon completing this course, the student will be able to meet the following objectives:

  • Review how to configure and troubleshoot a small network
  • Expand the switched network from a small LAN to a medium-sized LAN with multiple switches, supporting VLANs, trunking, and spanning tree
  • Describe routing concepts as they apply to a medium-sized network and discuss considerations when implementing routing on the network
  • Configure, verify, and troubleshoot OSPF
  • Configure, verify, and troubleshoot EIGRP
  • Determine how to apply ACLs bacsed on network requirements, and to configure, verify, and troubleshoot ACLs on a medium-sized network
  • Describe when to use NAT or PAT on a medium-sized network, and configure NAT or PAT on routers
  • Identify and implement the appropriate WAN technology based on network requirements

 

 

Course Content

 

The ICND-2 Online Program consists of 5 Instructor-Led Online (ILO) sessions. These sessions will last no more than 4 hours and will be recorded for playback in case you miss your scheduled time. Individual Hands-On labs will be completed on your schedule between ILO sessions through the unlimited lab access included during your program.

Session 1 - Trunks, VLAN Routing and Spanning Tree

  • Implementing VLANs and Trunks
  • Improving Performance with Spanning Tree
  • Routing between VLANs
  • Troubleshooting Switched Networks

Session 2 - Routing Operations and VLSM

  • Reviewing Routing Operations
  • Implementing VLSM

Session 3 - OSPF and EIGRP

  • Implementing OSPF
  • Troubleshooting OSPF
  • Implementing EIGRP
  • Troubleshooting EIGRP

Session 4 - ACL, NAT, PAT and IPv6

  • Introducing ACL Operation
  • Configuring and Troubleshooting ACLs
  • Scaling the Network with NAT and PAT
  • Transitioning to IPv6

Session 5 - VPN, PPP and Frame Relay

  • Introducing VPN Solutions
  • Establishing a Point-to-Point WAN connection with PPP
  • Establishing a WAN connection with Frame Relay
  • Troubleshooting Frame Relay WANs
